Please note that registration is done via the PyCon UK shopping cart: choose your options here, and add them to the cart. Then when you go to the checkout, your address and contact details will be taken and used for conference registration. Please be sure to enter your email address correctly, and please use the same email address for registering on the PyCon UK website wiki.
You may pay by secure online credit or debit card transaction, send a cheque or postal order by post or pay by Bank Transfer ( details). Card payments take place through our Payment Services Provider PayPal using full 128 bit encryption and are secured by Verisign. If you have a PayPal account you will have the option of paying using that instead of a credit or debit card. You do not have to have a PayPal account to pay, you may use your card whether or not you have a PayPal account.
After payment you will be sent an Invoice, and a Registration Ticket: print this out and keep it, it's your pass into PyCon UK.
About Booking Your Place at PyCon UK
Here is some extra information about what you're booking.
Conference Place
The price for this depends upon how and when you book:
- Community Rates
- Early bird rate up to 11th August 2008 - £75
- Normal rate up to 10th September 2008 - £95
- Concessionary rate up to 10th September 2008 - £65
- On the door - £100
- Corporate Rate - if you order by company Purchase Order
- The corporate rate at all times is £195
- If you wish to book several delegates using one Purchase Order special rates apply: please Contact Us.
This is what you're getting:
- Your place at PyCon UK for 2/3 days, 12th/14th September
- A PyCon UK tee shirt
- The conference CD, plus hand outs from our generous sponsors
- One place at the conference dinner, Saturday 13th September
- Optional Sprint Day (see below)
- Optional Tutorial Day, at a nominal extra charge (see below, subject to capacity).
We're using the Shopping Cart for conference registration, so please make sure you enter your contact details correctly, especially your email address which will be used to send you details of the conference (please use the same email address for registering on the PyCon UK website wiki). To help us, please restrict your booking to one delegate at a time. If you want more, please make separate bookings. ( see the booking help ).
Tutorial Day
The Tutorial day is Friday 12th September, with a mixture of half- and full day tutorials. The price is for attendence on the day, irrespective of which tutorials you attend. The prices are:
- Early bird rate up to 11th August 2008 - £35
- Normal rate up to 10th September 2008 - £55 (tbc)
Full details of tutorials will be posted on the website as they are confirmed. Currently (29th May) confirmed tutorials include:
- Generator Programming by David Beazley
- Introduction to IronPython by Michael Foord
- Introduction to Python by David Chan and Nick Booker
- ReportLab by Andy Robinson
- Python Logging by Richard Taylor
- Introduction to Django by Zeth Green and Nick Booker
Also on Tutorial Day there will be Open Space/informal round table hacking and learning (no charge).
Sprint Days
The Sprint days are on Monday 15th September, (and optionally Tuesday 16th) with some pre-arranged sprints and some that will be organised spontaneously during the conference. There is no charge for the Sprint Days, but you will need to have somewhere to stay on the night before (Sunday). You also will need to buy your own pub/cafe lunch.
Concessions and Speakeres
The concessionary rate applies to: over 60's, full-time students, unwaged, nurses and UKUUG members. Proof of status may be required at the Registration Desk.
There is a special Speakers rate available to all who have had a PyCon UK 2008 talk proposal accepted.
Extra Dinner Places
You may reserve extra places at the Conference Dinner, for example for friends and family.
Hotel Accommodation
You may book your place at the Etap Hotel (12 minutes' walk from the conference). You may book either a standard room, or a disabled access room if you need it. Each has the same basic facilities consisting of en-suite ablutions, one double bed and one single bunk bed. You can cut the cost of your accommodation by arranging to share a room with other delegate(s) through the Wiki room share page. Please note that during the conference there are exhibitions at the National Exhibition Centre and during this period the Etap room rate will be £45 : the PyCon UK rate of £38 is a significant saving.
Alternatively you can make your own accommodation arrangements at one of numerous hotels near the PyCon UK venue, which you will be able to find on the Accommodation Page.
Please make your hotel arrangements early to be sure of a room, especially in view of the NEC exhibitions..
